two steps forward, one step back

We have a lot going on in the magnolia household-for the past 2 1/2 months Harrison has been doing a great job with potty training. Honestly, I didn't think potty training him would be this easy! Last week he started preschool 3 days a week. He loves everything about it EXCEPT going potty. The boy will hold it the entire time without going. His teachers have started calling him "camel" because of his strong bladder. Well folks, today the camel sprung a leak. When I went to pick him up he had on different shorts. For some reason I feel like I did something wrong when this happens! I quickly told him it was OK and that "accidents happen" to quote Elmo's Potty Time, but not sure what to do here. I asked him why he didn't want to go potty at school and he said "I'm scared". He pee-peed before we left for school too. Any thoughts?

That's a tough one. Do they have a potty in his classroom? I assume they do and ones of those little ones just their size (I love those). Is it the flushing he doesn't like? Rachel doesn't like the noise and will sometimes cover her ears and flush with her foot. Or is it the sitting? Luckily he's a boy so he can stand. I'm guessing if you can bring him early and have him go while you're still there that might help. His teachers may let you in early if you talk to them about why. Rachel was potty-trained while she was in school so she learned there so no real fears at school, but she really didn't like those self-flush ones at the stores. I had to figure out to cover the sensor and hold her so she wasn't touching anything. Still she would occasionally have accidents at school even after she was supposedly potty trained. I'm sure it'll be a brief phase until he's comfortable there. Good luck!

This too shall pass! I remember the sinking feeling the first time I came to school to pick up Ryan and I thought, "whose pants is he wearing?" The "back ups" had been in his bag so long I had forgotten about them!

Maybe you take him to the potty with him next time you go to school?

I'm sure as he gets more comfortable there he'll be better at it, though.
