My favorite "room" of the house...

Down here in the south, we consider porches to be another room of the house. I LOVE our wrap-around porch...I spent almost the entire afternoon reading and gabbing with a good friend on the phone today while the boys were napping. It was especially nice today because of the breeze. Here's why I love it so much....

1. The S.C. flag we have hanging from it. We South Carolinians have A LOT of state loyalty. Who wouldn't love a flag so beautiful?

2. The hammock! Ahhhh-how I love this thing. It's great for a Sunday afternoon nap. Or sipping some sweet tea or lemonade...
3. My ferns. Nothing says the south like ferns. There's just something about them that screams southern to me. Most people have these somewhere on their porch around here...
4. My wreath and wreath hanger. I found this on sale at Target. It looks very Martha Stewart to me...as if I made it myself-ha! ha!
5. My little herb garden. I put herbs in my two front window boxes and I love them. I did basil, rosemary, tarragon, and dill. I also through in some red begonias for color.
6. The rocking chairs. LOVE these! You can't have a porch without a rocking chair. Brady and Jack were rocked on these many times when they were newborns. I love to read a book or magazine or people watch on these chairs. They were a house-warming gift from Dan's parents and we appreciate every minute on them.

So there you have it. My favorite room of the house. So come on over....the sweet tea is waiting!

Don't tempt me with that lovely invitation :-)

I just told a friend yesterday that if someone told me I had to move back to the south tomorrow, I'd have the for sale sign up and be on the first flight back. I love Seattle but I'm longing for cheaper housing and warm weather!

If you offer up wine or ice cream instead of sweet tea, I'd be there in a heartbeat!

Actually, I'm still trying to finagle a Kiawah trip this summer...I haven't given up hope yet!

The porch sounds great!!!! I am very envious! Our porch gets sun all day and is useless once it is above 80.

It was funny, as I read this I was wearing my SC state flag hat. I agree that your flag is great...amazing how many cars and folks here in OH have it displayed!

The front porch is just perfect!!

Just lovely. You have inspired me to get some fluffy green ferns for my patio.

Look at those pictures give me goosebumps. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about live in South Carolina with a huge front porch. Country and I drove around looking at houses on the marsh yesterday and we picked out every single one that would fit in in Charleston...because that's where we both want to live. I have a disgusting obsession. The palmetto sticker has been on almost every car I've ever owned...and half of the stuff in my house.

I envy you! It's BEAUTIFUL!
